USA close the PLO’s office in Washington

The US state Department announced the closure of the representative office of the Palestine liberation Organization in Washington.

“The administration… has come to the conclusion that the representation… of the Palestine liberation Organization (PLO) in Washington should be closed”, – reads the statement of the state Department.

As stated, the foreign office of the United States, the PLO “has not taken steps to move to the beginning of direct and meaningful negotiations with Israel.”

In addition, the state Department accused the leadership of the Palestinians that it condemned the administration’s agenda trump for peace between Israel and the Palestinians, a project that has not yet been made public.

“We allowed the PLO mission to carry out actions aimed at achieving a lasting, comprehensive peace between Israelis and Palestinians, after the expiration of the previous permit expired in November 2017. However, the PLO did not take timely steps to encourage the initiation of direct and meaningful negotiations with Israel. On the contrary, the leadership of the PLO denounced the American plan, which it had not seen and refused to cooperate with the U.S. government in the matter of (achieving) peace and other issues. Therefore, and taking into account the concerns of Congress, the Administration has decided that now the PLO’s office in Washington should be closed”, – said the acting assistant Secretary of state for public diplomacy Heather Nauert.
