At least 11 people were killed and almost a million homes and businesses remain without electricity in the result of tropical storm “Florence”, which struck North and South Carolina on September 14. The storm continues to move inland.

Among the victims of “Nightingale” – a mother and child who died in Wilmington due to the fact that the tree fell on the house in which they lived. A resident of Pender County, died of a heart attack, not waiting for ambulances. Doctors were not able to reach her home due to fallen trees. Two people were killed in Lenoir County, according to Reuters. 78-year-old man died while trying to connect the extension wire in the rain. Another County resident was the victim of a strong wind: according to Reuters, the man literally “blown away” by the wind when he went outside in search of their dogs.

National center for the study of hurricanes on the morning of 15 September reported that “Florence” continues to provoke “catastrophic flooding” North and South Carolinas. Still, the researchers warned about a possible tornado that may occur in the Southeast North Carolina and northeast South Carolina.

The Governor of North Carolina Roy Cooper called “Florence,” “the uninvited horror” that devastated several cities throughout the state.
