Earlier, the leader of “Radical party” Oleg Lyashko said that Ukraine has grounds for the recovery of the nuclear status, as, in his opinion, the Budapest Memorandum is not executed by the signatory countries.

“This is a populist statement. It is unlikely that those who made such statements, you know, what sanctions may fall on Ukraine, which needs constant care. In the case of such a status, it will be worse than with Iran,” said Dvorkin at the meeting of the Supervisory Board of the forum in London.

On the other hand, according to the expert, “Ukraine has no all of the infrastructure that is necessary… for maintenance and testing of nuclear weapons.”

After the collapse of the Soviet Union on the territory of Ukraine remained the Arsenal of nuclear weapons. In 1993, the country refused from nuclear weapons, joining the Budapest agreement. In exchange, Kiev was given security assurances by Russia, the US and the UK.

After 2014, Ukraine has repeatedly declared its intention to return the country to the status of nuclear power. At the same time, the first President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk expressed the opinion that if Kiev refused from nuclear weapons, he would be like a “monkey with a grenade”.
