Mazda has released in Japan, the 50-millionth car
Japan issued its 50 millionth Mazda. For this milestone, the company went from October 1931 — more than 86 years. “Hero of the day” gathered at the Assembly plant in Hofu, Yamaguchi Prefecture.
Car history Mazda started in October 1931 in Hiroshima, where was built the first Mazda three-wheeled truck. Serial production of cars started in 1960 R360 coupe two-door was produced until 1966.
Now in Japan there are two Mazda factory in Hiroshima and Hofu. The last one was launched in 1982. Developed at the enterprises of new technologies and flexible production system allowed the company to reach that level, the result of which was the 50 millionth vehicle. Production lines of factories are organized in such a way that a single conveyor can assemble multiple vehicle models. In 2016-2017, the company began adapting the production for the production of crossovers.
“Mazda has started to make cars 86 years ago, and now we have reached 50 million units in Japan. Even making 1 million cars a year to achieve this milestone it would take 50 years, which shows how long has Mazda. Moving forward, Mazda will remain a strong brand for a number of initiatives. Our factories are in Hofu and Hiroshima will continue to develop, contributing to the rapid introduction of new technologies to other subsidiaries,” – said, speaking at a ceremony in Hofu, President and CEO of Mazda, Masamichi Kogai.
As reported in the company’s management, this year Mazda plans to sell 1.66 million cars, and by March 2024 to increase production to 2 million units per year. In 2019, the Japanese will start production of the new generations of their current models and will also continue the expansion of production.
