Kiev. August 31. INTERFAX – foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin on the news after a meeting of the patriarchs Bartholomew and Kirill in Istanbul stressed that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church will receive autocephaly.
“The Ecumenical Patriarch told the interlocutor (Patriarch Kirill – if) that autocephaly in Ukraine! And it is a historical piece of news that leads us to historic victory! …Tomos we definitely get, because it conforms to the canons of Orthodoxy, and the logic of history,” wrote the Minister in Facebook on Friday.
According to him, the fair desire of Ukraine to obtain autocephaly and support of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew “has made the ROC at least partially back to reality and start the dialogue with Constantinople.”
“A dialogue is always a chance for normalization of the situation, the restoration of canonical relations”, – said P. Klimkin.
At the same time the Minister stressed that it is not necessary to forget that Moscow is capable of “any deceit,” so, he said, need particularly careful “about protecting our dreams.”
Earlier Friday, the head of the information Department of the self-proclaimed Kyiv Patriarchate yevstratii Zoria reported that Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew during the meeting with Patriarch Kirill in Istanbul informed of the decision granting the UOC autocephaly, but also that at the present time, the solution implementerade.
