Constantinople’s Tomos will not give those rights, which already has a Ukrainian Church, said the Hierarch of the UOC
Moscow. September 11. INTERFAX – the Ukrainian Orthodox Church already has the freedom and independence, the dream of the supporters of autocephaly, the head of the Information Department of the UOC Archbishop Clement.
“The imaginary Tomos, which is today one expects from the Constantinople Patriarchate does not contain those rights and provisions that we already have today. The Charter clearly States that the UOC is independent in its management, i.e. the management and administration of all issues related to hierarchy are solved within the borders of Ukraine”, – said the Hierarch in the air of Radio Liberty.
Same with the Moscow Patriarchate, the UOC connects spiritual unity, he added. “Directly through the Moscow Patriarchate, we have unity with the Ecumenical Orthodoxy,” said the Archbishop, adding that neither the Patriarch, nor any Bishop of the Russian Orthodox Church does not participate in the administration of the UOC.
Speaking about the reasons existing since the beginning of 1990-ies of the Church schism in Ukraine, he, in particular, accused the authorities in support of dissenters.
“If the state does not affect religious processes in Ukraine, that Church life would have developed in a natural way, and today we may would have a very different Church situation”, – said the head of the Synodal Department.
