Fewer students come to learn, because it said parents — rector of KNTEU

Interviews conducted in the framework of the educational project Business2Students.

Natalia Vladimirovna, how students have changed over the years when you were at University?

Has changed a lot. First of all these changes is the advent of new technologies and the changing lifestyle of generations. I am glad that the number of those who came to learn, because my parents said so, and increases the number of those who want to acquire knowledge, grasp them on the fly. Modern foreign students know and can not imagine their life without using information technology.

In my student years time is also directly influenced the choice of profession: I did in the 70s, when a total deficit of goods and development of wholesale trade has led to the prestige of commodity research, chose the specialty “commodity and organization of trade in foodstuff”. And through practice in the process of learning, I realized that by itself, trade does not appeal to me. That’s why I went to science and worked for about ten years in the research Institute, creating new food products.

But apparently the fact that I grew up in a family of scientists and teachers influenced the decision to return to the University where I continue to work for more than twenty years of professional experience — Professor at the chair where she herself studied in the same University where my father worked.

What is the number of students after graduating from your University go on to work in the specialty?

I can say that the maximum, however, precisely these data almost impossible. The number of graduates of the University annually prepares more than 5,000 people. And at different times had different versions of events. For example, the Antimonopoly Committee, customs service and other agencies completely “took away” editions. Now all that can be done to students as a way to guide their learning on what the labour market through relevant specialty educational programs.

During my student days it was mandatory scheduled employment: the University came a ranked list of specialties for which the rating was assigned graduates. The honors was the opportunity to choose a job first, and it served as a powerful incentive to do well in school.

In the country now lacks the same approach: data on the development priorities of the economy should be clear guidelines for training and, therefore, guarantee their demand.

According to your observation, the students which professions are most in demand?

We have a real full house for “Advertising” and “Marketing.” Young people who are stable in demand and useful, as a rule, in all areas. Most employers come for alumni marketing.

In second place for demand for everything connected with the legal professions, international trade, information technologies, restaurant and hotel business, and Finance.

And any specialty lost its relevance?

This is determined primarily by employment prospects. It turned out that the problem of consumers for the state is not relevant. Although everyone understands how it is important to have professionals on the examination of the goods and services that can resist tampering.

Before we preparing graduates for the Committee on consumer protection with 100% employment, but now that Committee no. So while we have translated the corresponding major to the rank of “sleeping” and waiting for better times.

Another problem is the perception of the students names. For example, specialty “system analysis” used by the low demand due to the fact that the students did not understand the name. But we are introducing a new naming, which I’m sure will provide adequate content popularity of the educational program.

Are there employers who are invested in your students at the stage of study?

We have over 300 permanent cooperation agreements and about 1500 bases of practice. The University actively cooperates with government agencies, business representatives, public organizations.

We prepare graduates for almost all ministries and departments, but the process of increasing the number and formation of the content of the specialties were very long and complicated, even 30 years ago, the University consisted of 5 fields, and now — ten times more. This is an example of good sequential development, and this is exactly what is lacking at the macro level — all should be systematic.

What is the difference knute from other universities?

The most important difference between KNTEU in constant collaboration with partners. We are open to cooperation. We are proud of the active interaction of University with stakeholders — partners educational programs: companies involved in the process of creating curricula, constant updating of courses, practical training, diagnostic knowledge. All geared to the student during the training period formed a competitive competence and was able to develop their skills. We are constantly in tone with those who actually employs our guys. We have great opportunities to realize themselves in creativity and sport.

What three tips would you give yourself as a student? Go for it! University life provides so many opportunities — not to try just a shame. You have to be level foreign language. Mandatory. You will need it in all spheres of activities. Learn to communicate with people. Communication is the key.
