Rachel Impson, 42 years old, was found guilty in April of the murder of Michael “Mick” Insley a night in the month of October 2014 on an isolated and dark island in the Lake Illawarra region, after he turned in front of his tent, without call and without notice.

In jailing her in the NSW Supreme Court today, Justice Michael Walton found that there had been “a degree of provocation from Mr Insley to Impson, who was in “heightened emotional state”, not only because of the death of her cat Angel, but also because of his mental health disorders.
