Metropolitan Hilarion advised to Constantinople to engage in the formation of “one local Church in America”

Moscow. September 15. INTERFAX – the head of the Synodal Department for external Church relations Metropolitan Hilarion of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, proposed to create “one local Church in America.”

“Why would Constantinople not to engage in the formation of “one local Church in America”? There isn’t an independent state?” – asks the Hierarch, on his page on “Facebook”.

However, he notes that, by contrast, Constantinople was making every effort “to hold at least a part of the American Orthodoxy in the orbit of Constantinople, not to give the Orthodox of North America to unite into a complete and powerful Autocephalous structure.”

“Why? Yes, because their do not want to lose. And someone else do not mind,” – says the Metropolitan.

The head of the ecclesiastical Department believes that the “war of the Patriarchate of Constantinople against Moscow continues nearly a hundred years.”

“In 1920-e years when the Russian Church was persecuted, when the Soviet government embarked on a path of purposeful destruction of religion, when the shot of the bishops and priests, blew up churches, closed theological schools and monasteries, what position to take Constantinople? Not the brotherly support and assistance, not of solidarity and sympathy,” writes Metropolitan Hilarion.

The situation, according to the hierarchy, repeated in 1990-e years when the Russian Church faced the difficulties associated with the aftermath of the collapse of the Soviet Union: “and then Constantinople did not remain in side: received into the fellowship of the Ukrainian dissenters from the United States and Canada, has established its jurisdiction in Estonia, repeatedly tried to invade the Ukraine”.

“Today, history repeats itself,” – said the Bishop.

He called for “pray hard” for the Metropolitan of Kiev Onufriy, the episcopate, the clergy and the multimillion flock of the canonical Ukrainian Church.

“All the powers of hell are thrown today on its destruction, but the promise of the Savior, the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
And to pray for the healing of the split – not through its legitimization, and through repentance and the admonition of those who’ve fallen away from the unity of the Church”, – concluded the Metropolitan.
