Jake Daniel Anderson-Brettner was last seen driving his Nissan Navara Ute in Launceston on Wednesday night.

Police are concerned for the well-being of 24-year-old Jake Daniel Anderson-Brettner, who was last seen in Launceston.

The investigators were taken to a tree trunk severed on Sunday night near a park off Tasman Highway, about 30km north-east of Launceston.

“A body located near the Plate last night has not yet been formally identified, but is believed to be Jake,” Inspector Craig Fox said, adding that the body was not “intact”.

More research are being done in Launceston the tip and around sections of the West Tamar Highway.

“Ultimately this is a case of murder,” Northern District Commander Brett Smith said.
