Washington. August 17. INTERFAX – U.S. President Donald trump said that if Turkey does not release the arrested American pastor Andrew Brunson, Washington will reduce its level of support.
“We do not pay for the release of an innocent man, but we will reduce the degree of support for Turkey,” wrote the American President on “Twitter”.
He noted that “Turkey has for many years used by the United States,” calling this E. Branson “a great patriot who is in hostages”.
The Secretary of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin said that America could expand sanctions list against Turkey in the case of the pastor.
“We have already introduced sanctions against several members of her Cabinet. We have planned more measures if they (the Turks – if) quickly released it,” he told reporters.
In connection with the arrest of pastor Washington has imposed sanctions against the Turkish Ministers of justice of Abdulhamit Gul and the interior of süleyman Soylu.
E. Brunson was arrested by Turkish authorities in 2016 on suspicion of spying and supporting anti-government forces, which attempted a coup in July 2016.
