Tbilisi. August 17. INTERFAX – the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Iran expressed the protest of Georgia in connection with the facts “disrespect” of employees of the security service of Tbilisi international airport to the headdress of Muslim women, reported on Friday Georgian media.
The corresponding statement was made by an official representative of the foreign Ministry of Iran Bahram qasemi. A statement posted on the Iranian foreign Ministry.
As noted by the media, we are talking about the recent complaints of passengers for the flight Isfahan-Tbilisi, which angered the requirements of airport employees to remove during security check women’s hats.
As stated in the statement B. qasemi, the Iranian Embassy in Tbilisi in connection with these facts was sent to the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Georgia a note of protest, and the Iranian foreign Ministry demanded from the Georgian Ambassador in Tehran for an explanation.
The statement B. qasemi expressed the hope that in the future security of Georgia “will show respect for personal lives of Muslim women and will not admit repetition of similar incidents”.
The Georgian foreign Ministry has not yet commented on this statement.
Meanwhile, this is not the first time that Iranian authorities demand from Tbilisi to solve this problem.
In April 2017, the media reported that during his visit to Tbilisi, the foreign Minister of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif at a meeting with Georgian leaders complained to the facts of disrespect to the hijab at the Tbilisi international airport. It was reported that Giorgi Kvirikashvili, who then held the post of Prime Minister of Georgia, has promised the Iranian foreign Minister to examine this issue.
