North Korea announced a new strategy and the rejection of nuclear tests

TOKYO, 21 Feb — RIA Novosti. North Korea declared a new strategic course, renouncing further nuclear and missile tests to focus exclusively on the development of the economy, according to the decisions on Friday in Pyongyang Plenum of the Central Committee of the workers ‘ party of Korea (WPK).

Materials of the Plenum passed on Saturday on channels of the Central Telegraph Agency of Korea (KCNA).

According to him, speaking at the plenary session the Chairman of the state Council of the WPK and the DPRK Kim Jong-UN said that “new strategic course, concentrating all forces on the economy that constitutes the most scientific and revolutionary line” of the party.

The DPRK intends to maintain its existing nuclear potential, but will refuse further nuclear weapons tests and ballistic missiles, which became the reason for the decision against Pyongyang the UN security Council sanctions. These sanctions do not allow to develop North Korea’s foreign economic activities.

“When we finished the putting into service of nuclear weapons, now we have eradicated the need for nuclear testing and the testing of ballistic missiles of average and distant radius of action, and therefore a testing ground for nuclear tests has exhausted its mission”, — quotes the words of the KCNA, Kim Jong UN.

The leader of North Korea, according to the Agency, “highlighted the peaceful position of our party is directed to make an active contribution to building a world free of nuclear weapons, in accordance with common ideals and aspirations of humanity”. But underlying all this — “the rise to the necessary level of military power of the DPRK and ensure reliable security,” North Korean state and its people.

According to the decisions of the Plenum, 21 APR Pyongyang stop all nuclear tests and launches of Intercontinental ballistic missiles. This will be closed a nuclear test site in the North of the country. Thus, the further the DPRK joined the international efforts for a comprehensive cessation of nuclear testing, which it recognizes an important part of global nuclear disarmament.

“All efforts will be focused on the struggle for the establishment of a powerful socialist economy, dramatically raising the standard of living of the people by mobilizing human and material resources of the country,” decided the Plenum of the Central Committee of the WPK. According to its decisions to create an enabling international environment and to preserve peace and security on the Korean Peninsula and the world as a whole, the DPRK will “intensify the close contact and dialogue with neighbouring States and the international community.”

A new course, the DPRK was adopted by the party in the run-up scheduled for April 27 summit with South Korea and planned after this meeting, Kim Jong-UN and U.S. President Donald trump.
