Moscow. 7 Aug. INTERFAX – Moscow team of the mosque ended with a farewell ceremony with the journalist Orhan Cemal, which together with colleagues was killed in the Central African Republic.

As the correspondent of “Interfax”, the mosque, which were committed by Islamic funeral rites, gathered relatives, friends, colleagues and admirers of the journalist who came to honor his memory.

Presentations were made by several friends O. Jamal.

According to the President of the Islamic cultural center (public wing of the Council of Muftis of Russia) Abdul-Wahed Niyazov, the deceased was an outstanding and controversial personality. “Despite the fact that he was such a rebel, a daredevil, he was always against injustice, boorishness, but he was always a big kid and romantic” – said Niyazov.

He added that their mentality A. Cemal “remained somewhere in the 70-80-ies, when he was born.” “That’s the best that is laid in it by parents, it remained in it – the romance, the faith in justice, faith in friendship, faith in love,” said A. Niyazov.

He drew attention to the number of different people who gathered today on the territory of the mosque. “Even when he left, look what number of different people, Muslims and non-Muslims, Azerbaijanis, Tatars, Caucasians, Russians, Jews, Armenians, he joined here. Only here. And how he has United Russia and all over the world!” the President said the Islamic cultural center.

In turn, the journalist Maxim Shevchenko did not agree with A. Niyazov, as, according to him, A. Cemal was not a child. “Orhan kid was, he was a lion, he was a real lion who threw in the face of oppressors, torturers and rapists the truth, not afraid to look them in the eye, he went to prison, went to the dungeons. He went to those who were oppressed and dealt with people. The child does not. Does it only he who feels in his heart the fire of truth and the fire of truth” – said Maxim Shevchenko.

The ceremony was made by the son of O. Jamal Mansour, who is now about 12 years old. “My father Orhan Cemal was a very great man, I proud of him. Such people are rare to find. If these people had a little more in the world then the world would be much better,” said the teenager.

The journalist will be buried on Tuesday at the Muslim part of the Khovansky cemetery.

On 31 July it became known that in the Central African Republic on 30 July in an attack by gunmen were killed journalist O. Jamal, directed by Alexander Rastorguev and operator Kirill Radchenko, who came to Africa to make a film about private military companies. The TFR in the given fact criminal case under article 105 of the Criminal code of Russian Federation (murder).

A. Jemal was 51 years old. Since 1995 worked in the newspaper “Evening Moscow”, “Evening courier”, “Nezavisimaya Gazeta”, “Novaya Gazeta”, “Version” (the last two he headed the policy division), was a columnist of the magazine “Russian Newsweek”, has collaborated with several other magazines and online publications. Worked in the North Caucasus, South Ossetia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Saudi Arabia.

In 2000 he was one of the founders of the Union of religious journalists, and in 2003 – Muslim journalists Union of Russia. In 2005, he became the founder and Executive Director of the Agency of journalistic investigations “Investigative Committee” at the Union of journalists of Russia.

The author of the book “Chronicles the five-day war” (2008) about the Russian-Georgian-Ossetian military conflict of 2008, during which he accompanied the battalion “Vostok”.

In August 2011, Jamal O. was seriously wounded in the leg during the battle for Tripoli in Libya.
