US boxer Floyd Mayweather has his title in the Forbes rankings of the world’s 100 top-earning athletes.
He earned a $275 million (£205m) payday for his fight in August against UFC star Conor McGregor, who is number four on the US business magazine on the list.
Cristiano Ronaldo – top for the past two years, the second place falls to a third party, with Lionel Messi edging him after signing a new contract.
The top 100 athletes earned a total of $3.8 billion, an increase of 23% from last year.
Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton is the top Briton at number 12 with $51 million.
There are no women on the list this year, after the previous sole participant Serena Williams dropped out of the chart.
Mayweather – whose nickname is money, saw his athletic result, added $10m from endorsements.
“Boxing is the biggest night of 2017 helped Mayweather, and McGregor will earn nearly $400m combined,” said Kurt Badenhausen, a senior editor at Forbes Media.
“But basketball players, the top 100 is dominated, overall, by a high salary cap, triggered by the NBA’s $24 billion TV contract.”
He added: “Forbes” list of top-earning athletes have long been testosterone heavy. But there is a female athlete has always, at least, and as many as three, the the qualified, because the list has been expanded to at least 50 names in 2010. Also in this year.”The top 10

Floyd Mayweather, Cristiano Ronaldo and Tiger Woods at number 16 this year – are the only three athletes at the top of the best-paid list over the last 18 years.
The income for the 2018 list, a record $22.9 m, $1.5 m from the previous year, mainly due to the rising salaries in the NBA.
Approval of income from the sponsors ‘ contracts fell slightly, by 1% to $877 meters.
Players from 11 different sports will be presented in the list, and from 22 different countries.
NBA stars lead with a record-topping 40 basketball players in the top 100. American Football was the next most represented sport with 18 players, followed by baseball with 14 and soccer with nine.
The Americans dominate the rankings with 66 athletes, while the United Kingdom five, headed, of formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton at number 12 with $51 million.
The Dominican Republic and Spain have three athletes, while Argentina, Brazil, France, Japan, and Venezuela, all of the two.
