The Taliban after the Afghan authorities announced a temporary ceasefire in the holiday of breaking the fast

Dubai/Kabul. June 9. INTERFAX – the Afghan Taliban announced ceasefire for a period of three days in connection with the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr, said on Saturday the associated press.

In a statement issued by the Taliban says that the militants will defend themselves if any attack on them during the ceasefire. Also, the Taliban said foreign forces, the cease-fire does not apply.

The Taliban did not specify when will the truce. The EFE news Agency notes that, most likely, it will start on 15 or 16 June. This is the first such ceasefire in Afghanistan for 17 years, the Agency said.

Earlier, the President of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani had announced a unilateral ceasefire in the country. The truce declared by the President, will be held from 12 to 19 June.
