Simferopol. June 9. INTERFAX – Metropolitan of Simferopol and Crimea Lazar on the eve of the commemoration day of the heavenly patron of the Peninsula of St. Luke (Voyno-Yasenetsky) – has performed the rite of consecration of medical gowns.
“Every doctor asks God for help in his medical writings, to observe the purity of his medical conscience, to perform, as it should be before God and people, your medical debt. These gowns are a symbol of what every doctor is first and foremost to God and the sick person”, – told the correspondent of “Interfax-Religion” on Saturday, the rector of the Church of the visitation and of St. Luke at the Medical Academy. S. I. Georgievskogo in Simferopol.
The rite of consecration was held in the Holy Trinity women’s monastery at the relics of the Saint.
The consecration was attended by chief doctors of hospitals of Simferopol and the surrounding towns, the Minister of health of the Republic Alexander Golenko, believers doctors, students of medical universities.
St Luke is one of the most revered saints in the twentieth century. As in earthly life he helped people as a doctor, the believers turn to him with requests for assistance in various illnesses and infirmities. There is ample evidence of the care of the Saint.
The day of his memory is considered to be June 11 – the day of earthly death of the Saint.
