Moscow. June 9. INTERFAX – the LGBT community at McMurdo, the largest settlement in Antarctica, plans to hold in June a gay pride parade, reports the website Gay.ru.
A group of ten people living in McMurdo station, research center of the U.S. near the Ross ice shelf, took the photo with the rainbow flag in April as in June – pride month in the United States in Antarctica comes the polar night.
In the summer months, the station has up to 900 people or more, but in winter there are only 133 people, among whom there are representatives of sexual minorities.
In the spring of 2016 representatives of non-profit human rights organization “Planting Peace” were held on the roads of Antarctica with the LGBT flag.
