The criminal case was opened in Tomsk in connection with the activities of “Jehovah’s Witnesses”

Tomsk. June 4. INTERFAX – Employees of investigatory management SKR across the Tomsk region opened a criminal case about the organization of the extremist organization “Jehovah’s Witnesses”, the press service of the Ministry reported on Monday.

“From August 2017 to may 2018, residents of Tomsk organized activities of religious groups, meetings of which were studied in Russia banned religious materials international website of the organization “Jehovah’s Witnesses”, – stated in the message.

In addition, activists held a sermon to involve citizens in the activities of the organization, despite the fact that the Supreme court issued a decision on its liquidation.

In this regard, the investigators according to the materials of the FSB and the police opened a criminal case under part 1 of article 282.2 of the criminal code (organization of an extremist organization).

On suspicion of committing a crime detained one of the leaders of the local branch of the organization, the question on election of a preventive measure.
