New virus attacked computers in 54 countries

MOSCOW, may 23 — RIA Novosti. New computer virus had infected about 500 thousand devices in more than 50 countries, according to the American telecommunications company Cisco Systems.

Malicious software called VPNFilter affects network equipment, particularly routers, and storage information. Utility criminals can not only steal data on the sites, but disabling the digital device.

Experts of the company say that VPNFilter spread in 54 countries, especially in Ukraine.

Earlier in the SBU said about the possible hacking of the websites of state institutions on the eve of the final of the football Champions League in Kiev.

This is not the first major cyber attack in a few months. So, in April, experts have recorded a mass mailing infected Microsoft Word files. Then we had the financial and IT-companies in the United States and the middle East.
