Germany issued permission on the construction of “Nord stream – 2”

On Tuesday, March 27, the company “Nord stream – 2” (Nord Stream-2 AG) has received permission for the construction and operation of the pipelines in the German EEZ (Exclusive economic zone). About it reported in a press-service of the company.

It is noted that the Federal office for shipping and hydrography issued a permit for the construction of a 30 km section in accordance with the Mining law of Germany.

“We are pleased that all the necessary permissions for the German part with a total length of 85 km are obtained”, – said the Manager to obtain permits in Germany for the Nord Stream-2 AG Jens Lange.

The German side this information has not yet commented on.

Earlier it was reported that the project “Northern stream – 2” value of nearly 10 billion euros, “Gazprom” and its partners intend to begin in April 2018. It is assumed that 1,200-kilometer pipeline will be laid through the Baltic sea and connect Russia and Germany, bypassing Ukraine, Poland and the Baltic States. The capacity of the pipeline will be twice larger than that of the first “Nord stream”, and the construction will be completed by the end of 2019.

Construction of the pipeline “Nord stream – 2” does not provide for the termination of transit of Russian gas through Ukraine, but its preservation is possible only under condition of competitive tariffs and the abolition of Kiev of the claims against Gazprom.

Earlier, Ukraine once again appealed to the European Commission, the member States of the EU with a request to abandon plans for the construction of “Nord stream – 2”. Later the heads of the parliaments of Latvia, Lithuania and Poland during a meeting in Vilnius signed a letter stating that “Nord stream – 2” threatens the energy independence of EU member States.

We will remind, more than ten world-renowned companies have expressed their desire to participate in the management of gas transportation system of Ukraine.
