Chisinau. March 7. INTERFAX – the President of Moldova Igor Dodon denied on Wednesday information on the agreement with the President of Turkey for the construction of a mosque in the Republic.
On the eve of former Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin said on one of the channels that I. Dodon agreed to allow Turkey the construction of a mosque in Moldova in exchange for the renovation of the residence of Moldovan President, which Turkey performs at his own expense.
“This is not true. You know that in the election campaign, and after that I acted as the advocate of Orthodoxy, has always supported the Orthodox faith and religion. I respect Vladimir Voronin and still believe that he was one of the best presidents in the modern history of Moldova. But no such conditions on the part of Turkey was not,” said I. Dodon on Wednesday after a meeting of the Supreme security Council.
According to him, Turkey agreed at their own expense to complete the repair of the building of the presidential administration and furnish it.
“How much they spend – is unknown. I very much hope that in August Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will arrive in Chisinau, on independence Day we will open the renovated building,” said Igor Dodon.
