Trump admitted the possibility of talks with Pyongyang

The President stressed that, despite sanctions, North Korea received many goods from Russia

President Donald trump said Monday that USA, in recent times, increasing the pressure on North Korea for its nuclear and missile programs, ready to hold talks with Pyongyang, but only at observance of necessary conditions.

Trump also warned that if Pyongyang does not abandon its nuclear and missile ambitions, it may lead to the death of large numbers of people – “in such quantities that no one could imagine”.

Trump said that several days ago the authorities of the DPRK passed through South Korean President moon Jae-In, that they want talks with the United States.

“Let’s see what will happen,” said trump about the prospect of negotiations with North Korea.

The correspondent of “voice of America” Steve Herman quotes the opinion of senior fellow Council on foreign relations Scott Snyder: “and trump, And (head of North Korean intelligence Agency) Kim Jong-Chul expressed a willingness to negotiate. But while there is no agreement about what the parties are willing to discuss.”

The first meeting of representatives of the United States and the DPRK in fact is a “talk about talks, the only “condition” that should be required is a moratorium on nuclear and missile tests,” said the expert of the Atlantic Council Robert manning, noting that Pyongyang has not conducted such tests for almost four months.

From the administration of the tramp, “apparently, there’s no diplomatic strategy, in addition to the requirement that they abandon nuclear technology,” notes manning. “I’m afraid that in terms of diplomacy, the administration behaves like a dog chasing a car. They will catch up with her, and then what?”

According to the researcher from national defense University James Przystupa, as a condition of carrying out of bilateral negotiations, we must demand that Pyongyang declared a moratorium on nuclear and missile tests and promised to denuclearization and to fulfill the conditions of the prisoner in 1991 the Agreement on reconciliation, nonaggression and exchanges with South Korea.

“Any less stringent requirements would mean that we cheated,” – said the expert, stressing that the only result of the negotiations should be denuclearization.

North Korea has repeatedly stated that its nuclear weapons are not negotiable.

According to trump, the past US presidents for the past quarter of a century “was supposed to solve this problem” long before him.

Speaking to governors, trump criticized the Obama administration, Clinton and both bushes. According to him, none of them “did nothing”, while “then it would be much easier than now.”

The much warmer trump said about China, which is considered the closest ally of the DPRK. Trump also said that after the requirements his administration China has made more efforts to resolve the North Korean issue than ever before.

At the same time the President noted that, despite sanctions against Pyongyang, in North Korea there are many goods from Russia. “Russia is behaving badly, the President said, because Russia gives that China takes”.

During the meeting with South Korean President mun Jae-Otherwise the head of North Korean intelligence, who headed his country’s delegation at the closing ceremony of the Olympics, made clear that Pyongyang is ready to negotiate with Washington.

“We hope that between North Korea and the United States will begin constructive negotiations with relevant opportunities,” – said the official representative of South Korean Ministry of unification.

General Kim at the closing ceremony, sat in the same box, that is the official American government delegation, headed by trump’s daughter Ivanka. The delegation was also commander of US forces and the UN on the Korean Peninsula, the U.S. army General Vincent Brooks.

“Any interaction with North Korean delegation was not. The presence of the us presidential delegation at the closing ceremony was the culmination of a successful trip. We celebrated the Olympic games, American athletes and our strong Alliance with South Korea,” said a senior representative of the American administration.

Earlier the Ministry of foreign Affairs of the DPRK issued a warning about the introduction of new sanctions by the U.S. against Pyongyang.

“As we have stated many times, we will consider all of the blockade an act of war against us and never try to stop US if they really try to join us in rigid opposition”, – said the representative North Korean the Ministry of foreign Affairs, whose words are quoted by state news Agency KCNA.

“Combating this sort of bullying from the United States, we acquired nuclear weapons, precious sword of justice to defend itself,” the statement reads.

Trump on Friday announced a “major” package of sanctions against North Korea and threatened to start the “second phase”, if these measures prove ineffective.

The sanctions are directed against single individuals, 27 companies and 28 ships registered in China and another seven countries, and aims to combat illicit trade and supply of goods to the DPRK. The sanctions block the assets of companies in the United States and forbid American citizens to conduct business with them.

China on Saturday reacted angrily to the new sanctions, saying they are counterproductive in terms of ending North Korea’s nuclear and missile programs. China’s foreign Ministry also demanded that the U.S. immediately lift sanctions “in order to avoid damage to bilateral cooperation in the relevant field”.
