Reportedly, Alex van der Zwaan did knowingly false statements

Spectacular Robert Mueller, guiding the investigation of Russian interference in presidential elections in 2016, accused the London-based lawyer Alex van der Swaan giving us investigators a false statement about his contacts with Rick gates, a former business partner Paul Manafort.

As recalled by the correspondent of “voice of America” Ken Bredemeier, gates charged with money laundering in connection with his lobbying efforts in Ukraine.

Office Mueller announced the charges on Tuesday, saying that van der Swaan, is expected to plead guilty, before the court in Washington later on Tuesday.

Office Mueller said that van der Swaan “knowingly making a false, from the point of view of the facts, untrue and fraudulent representations” in the matter relating to Ukraine.

According to the prosecution, van der Swaan working at a law firm, which the Ukrainian Ministry of justice in 2012 commissioned a report on the case of ex-Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, said that the last time I talked to gates in mid-August 2016. Tymoshenko was found guilty of corruption and abuse of authority, but later the sentence was cancelled.

According to prosecutors, van der Zwaan lied, saying he did not know why his e-mail from September 2016 was filed with the office of Muller, although in fact he removed it. It is also alleged that he gave false testimony about his recent contacts with the gates and some undisclosed person.

In October, gates and former head of the electoral headquarters of the trump Floor of the Manafort been charged in connection with their work on the government of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, who was ousted in 2014 and fled to Russia.

Last week, Mueller filed against 13 Russian citizens and three Russian corporations charges in conducting illegal campaign of “information warfare”, to help Donald Trump to win the election.

Previously müller has already obtained a guilty plea from a former adviser to trump national security Michael Flynn and former adviser on foreign Affairs to George Papadopoulos, who was charged with giving false testimony about contacts with Russia.
