Fergie apologizes for national anthem

It is fair to say that Fergie’s was jazzy, slowed down version of the Star-Spangled Banner at Sunday’s NBA All-Star game to be a hit with all.

And now, the American singer.for her performance

The singer told TMZ: “I have always honored and proud to perform the national anthem, and last night I wanted something special for the NBA.

“I’m a risk-taker artistically, but obviously, this Interpretation does not strike the intended tone.”

She added: “I love this country and honestly told tried my best.”

Star-mangled banner?

Social media went into meltdown, as the people of the former Black-Eyed-Peas responded to the singer’s unusual version.

ESPN journalist Jemele Hill is a clip of TNT tweeted the coverage of the event in Los Angeles, NBA player Draymond Green could not with a straight face.

Memes were quickly in circulation, comparisons with previous singers were in abundance and #Fergie was trending on Twitter.

Some thought she was copying the breathy style of Marilyn Monroe, when she famously sang “Happy Birthday” to President Kennedy.

It is not the first time Fergie singing the US national anthem in public.

She sang the Star-Spangled Banner in front of the Obamas in 2009 at the White house for the annual Easter Egg roll.

Suffice it to say, it was a much more traditional Interpretation, and attracted far less attention.You may also like:
