CIA expects that Russia will interfere in the elections in the US in 2018

The Director of the CIA Mike Pompeo stated that he sees no evidence that Moscow has abandoned plans of Subversion

The Director of the CIA Mike Pompeo said that the electoral process in the United States remains vulnerable to Russian intervention in the future and the Kremlin will probably try to intervene in the mid-term elections in the US this year.

“I have every reason to expect that they will try to do it,” said Pompeo in an interview with the BBC, referring to the midterm elections of 2018.

“But I am sure that America will be able to hold free and fair elections, and we will provide a strong enough resistance to their influence on our choices was not significant,” he added.

Although the CIA has provided the Kremlin with information that helped him in the anti-terrorist work, in particular, helped to prevent the planned terrorist attack in St. Petersburg, Pompeo said that it has evidence that Russia has abandoned plans of Subversion.

“I did not see a significant reduction in their activity”, – said the Director of the CIA.

He added that the American intelligence community, which had previously stated that Russia interfered in the U.S. presidential election in 2016 is identifying the forces that are behind subversive activities, using the technical means of suppression and attempts at containment of Russia, reported BBC.

“We are the best spy Agency in the world,’ said Pompeo. – We’ll go down there and climb out to get secret information to the American people. I would like to work again ahead of the curve”.
