Measles outbreak in Ukraine: In Ivano-Frankivsk students have extended holidays

In Ivano-Frankivsk because of an outbreak of measles has decided to extend vacations in schools. This is stated on the city’s website.

“In order to limit the spread of the disease, it is recommended to extend the holidays in city schools. Forced vacation will last until January 21 inclusive. Exception – the school â„–6 (Oprisavci), in which the highest number of patients – where the holidays will be extended for 2 weeks”, – is spoken in the message.

We will remind, in the autumn of 2017 has recorded a measles outbreak. According to the health Ministry, the country has 70 times more cases of measles in comparison with last year – more than 2,000 people. Indications the most common diseases fixed in Ivano-Frankivsk, Odesa and Ternopil regions. With more than half of diseased – children from one to eight.

Doctors emphasize that the only reliable way to protect against measles (for children and for adults) – vaccination. It does not protect against the virus 100%, however, significantly reduces the possibility of infection and mitigates the course of the disease.
