In India, terrorists attacked a camp of police

NEW DELHI, 31 Dec — RIA Novosti. At least four soldiers of the Indian army was killed and two were injured in the attack of terrorists on a camp of the Forces of the Central reserve police force (CRPF) in Jammu and Kashmir, the newspaper Hindustan Times, citing a government source.

According to the source, on Sunday morning, two armed men attacked with grenade launchers the building of the police hospital in the district of Pulwama. After that a gun battle ensued, during which four law enforcement officers were killed. Two others received gunshot wounds and was taken to intensive care, doctors assess their condition as stable. According to the newspaper, a few hours later the security forces managed to cordon off the building where the militants were hiding, and neutralize them.

Responsibility for the incident was taken by a terrorist group “Jaish-I-Mohammad”.

In the state of Jammu and Kashmir are active separatists campaigning for independence or accession to Pakistan. While in Kashmir between India and Pakistan has no official borders — the armies of the two States dividing line of control. New Delhi has accused Pakistani authorities of supporting armed separatists, Islamabad denies these charges, saying that the Kashmiris themselves are fighting for their rights.

The group of “Jaish-I-Muhammad” operates on the territory of Kashmir, where its members are fighting for secession of the region from India. It is in the list of terrorist organizations of the United Nations. India believes the group was involved in several terrorist acts on the territory of the country and sought to include the UN Security Council, by its leader Massoud Azar in the list of terrorists.
