Moscow. 30 Dec. INTERFAX – Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk believes that the completion of examinations of the “Yekaterinburg remains” should not be confined to symbolic dates, but it would be good to get the results to the centenary of the death of the family of Nicholas II.
“We can’t put any deadlines, but it would probably be good if it was held until the centennial of the tragic death of the Royal family. But if the experiments are not finished, so we will wait, we will wait as long as necessary,” he said on Saturday in the program “Church and world” on TV channel “Russia-24” (VGTRK), answering a question of leadership.
The Metropolitan stressed that the Church cannot put “some time limit for those experiments that are conducted because we need to make sure that they are completed, they are finished, they gave a convincing result.”
According to the Metropolitan, in order to make a final decision in the Church should be 100% sure that this is indeed the remains of the Royal family.
“For us, this question is of particular importance, because it is not only about the remains of the last Emperor and his family, and we are talking about the remains canonized by the Church of persons, that is on Holy relics. Once we recognize “the Ekaterinburg remains” the remains of the Royal family, we immediately recognize their Holy relics and open the access of pilgrims,” – said the Hierarch.
