Saint-Petersburg. 21 Dec. INTERFAX – the St. Petersburg city court has sentenced to long terms of imprisonment participants of a gang who committed a number of robberies, including the mosque, told the United press service of ships of the Northern capital on Friday.
Six defendants sentenced from 9 to 14 years of strict regime colony.
According to the court, the gang operated from 2003 to 2012. The defendants robbed the offices, apartments, shops, malls and cafes, using masks, gloves and uniform of riot police. After penetration into the room at gunpoint, they tied the victims with duct tape, bound his hands with handcuffs, put on the head knitted caps, attacked, used tasers.
All were stolen property worth more than 10 million rubles.
The court considered the guilt of the defendants in the most serious crimes, namely, robbery, robbery with violence dangerous for life and health, a group of persons upon a preliminary collusion with the use of weapons and illegal entry, theft and robberies, embezzlement and illegal acquisition of firearms and ammunition.
One of the episodes in the case was the attack on the Cathedral mosque of St. Petersburg in 2010, when it was stolen 1,5 million roubles.
