Lavrov: some countries want to use the “Eastern partnership” against Russia

MINSK, 2 Jun — RIA Novosti. Some EU countries and the Eastern partnership are determined to use this format in the anti-Russian, it is futile, said Saturday the Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

“We see the desire of some countries in the European Union, to use “Eastern partnership” in anti-Russian purposes. They are not the majority, but they are quite aggressive behave. This was evident, including the Prime Minister of great Britain Theresa may at the summit of “Eastern partnership” held in Brussels a few days ago,” said Lavrov in an interview to the Belarusian TV channel “STV”.

According to Lavrov, “the vast majority of EU countries understand that this is another attempt to use improper means” and that “to implement the anti-fuse in any contacts with the countries-CIS members is counterproductive and futile.”

“We certainly see the behavior of our Ukrainian, Moldavian and Georgian colleagues. But I repeat once again, they fail and I am sure that you will not be able to translate the whole scheme of “Eastern partnership” in the anti-Russian direction”, — said the Russian foreign Minister.
