There is usually a dominant theme in a room of the automobile. For example, Frankfurt this year was dominated by automakers detailing their long-term electric plans, while January’s Detroit show had an air of the unknown as the world expected the Triumph to the opening of a couple of days later, wondering what impact it would have on the automotive industry.
Gallery: the ‘other’ of the cars of the los Angeles show
But this week in Los Angeles show was a very different matter: there were plenty of large, bright, with stands of manufacturers of cars – as you would expect in a lounge car, in– fact, but very little of all-new metal.

For example, the booth of Honda, although decent in size, had nothing new, with the main attraction of the already revealed the new CR-V. That was unusual because we have already seen in an American motor show this year, however, the European version – about the same – is yet to be seen. Will make its European debut in Geneva in March, we say.
There were some new cars, although many public debuts more grand reveals. Many manufacturers chose to show pictures of their new cars in the last few months, ahead of the real-life debut at the show. The including the Porsche Boxster and Cayman GTS, Race T, and the new Jeep Wrangler. That’s all well and good, but it means his appearance at a press event lacks the surprise factor of a model never seen before show day.
There were a few of the new us-focused metal – for example, the Subaru Ascent full-size SUVS. “He seems to be a Forest ranger,” said an american journalist to no one in particular. There was a Lexus RX-L, one of the three-row version of the RX, the more remarkable, since it only had six cup holders, in comparison with the Rise of 19.
The Infiniti QX50 aroused interest because (a) it is the first model to adopt the brand is ingenious variable compression turbo engine, and b) could well be the model to help increase sales in the uk for the brand when it comes to the end of next year. Shortly before the show that shows the new engine in a prototype QX50.
Speaking of uk sales increases, Mazda revealed an update of the Mazda 6, for sale at the end of next year, with exterior changes, so slight, you might miss them. The most important changes are the engineering, with a new chassis configuration for the intention of making a better management and be more comfortable.
Jaguar Land Rover on the stand was highlighted mainly as a reminder of how very important it is the market of the united states is to them. The update of the Range Rover took the place of honor, was made by the I-Pace and I-Pace racer, both of which will be designed to ensure that the SUV’s electric remains at the forefront of the minds of the people ahead of its sale date next year.
You can always rely on American shows have some extravagant models that are presented, most of which are probably more noticeable to us as to foreigners than the locals. Customs hall, a dark room, with the hip-hop of cleaning, worth a visit if only to see a measure of 1923 Ford Model T, that is so out of this world, it is difficult to conceive. In a quiet corner, there was also a Galpin modified, new Aston Martin Vantage in all its brash, yellow glory.
And, of course, the obligatory pick-ups, which as a sensitive Brit, they are always absurd, but fun. Toyota fashion your own with the kayaks in the back, while the GMC to All Mountain Concept replaces the wheels for the tracks, plus the mandatory piece of ski equipment.
In the preparations for the show, the Jaguar name first team to have signed up for the I-Pace eTrophy race of the series: US squad Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing. The team is run and part owned by Bobby Rahal, three-time champion of the Indy car and former 500 winner Indianapolis, and the former chat show David Letterman. The computer that currently runs cars in the united states IndyCar Series and endurance races.
Nervous, Tish? “The excuse of lack of definition but the dog unexpectedly barked and made me jump. THE breakfast TV at its finest: apparently we can figure out why he had the dogs with him after the break. Forgive me for not hanging round to find out why.”
Things are very different for Subaru in the united states, Mark says: “The System of Promotion is a long way from being the most exciting new car in the show, however, is the most recent test of the flexibility of Subaru of new architecture, and should find success in a market in which Subaru is so successful.”
There are some people hard to please? Sam Sheehan is overwhelmed by the i8’s interior: “I love the i8. It is a brilliant piece of design and the hybrid powertrain still impresses to this day. But I can’t help but notice how dated the interior looks now (never thought I’d say that when it was launched) – especially when it is in full view through the i8 Roadster.”
Always one for making a snack on your trip, James Attwood was very taken with Subaru’s boast that its new large SUV, the Ascent, features 19 of cup and bottle holders – pretty, even for a car that can accommodate up to nine. Even so, Atters recognizes that all of the holders of the cup should keep all the coffee you drink during the average at the motor show…
