Moscow. 22 Nov. INTERFAX – the Council of bishops of the Moscow Patriarchate will consider the General Church glorification of saints, which were venerated only in Ukraine.
“Among the saints that will probably be glorified as the Church worshipped at the forthcoming Council of bishops, we expect a number of ascetics who labored in Ukraine”, – said Wednesday on a press-conferences in Moscow the Chairman of the Department for external Church relations Archpriest Nikolai Balashov.
He explained that before these saints were venerated by the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, but the Council of bishops will consider the possibility of their veneration throughout the canonical territory of the Moscow Patriarchate.
In the upcoming Cathedral will participate 377 Orthodox bishops from 22 countries have confirmed their participation, almost all Ukrainian bishops. In addition, the expected presence of distinguished guests from other local Orthodox churches in the world. Based on the number of participants it was decided to hold the Council at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, not in the assumption Cathedral of the Kremlin, which could not accommodate all the guests.
