US measures against RT violate the us Constitution, said Zheleznyak

MOSCOW, 14 Nov — RIA Novosti. The U.S. government grossly violated the basic norms of its own Constitution, forcing the TV station RT America to register as a foreign agent, told RIA Novosti member of the state Duma Committee on international Affairs Sergei Zheleznyak.

“The US authorities in their Russophobic paranoia grossly violated the basic norms of its own Constitution, forcing Russia Today to register as a foreign agent. Unprecedented and unwarranted pressure on the Russian media in the US will not remain without response on our part. We will be forced to adopt retaliatory measures against American information resources operating in Russia”, — told RIA Novosti the ore.

He noted that in the next few days will be adopted relevant amendments to the legislation that provide for a mirrored action against American media in connection with the oppression of the Russian media in USA.

“Amendments will be made including the media law, which will contain criteria for classifying companies as foreign agents, to apply the same measures as NGOs-registered as foreign agents” — said the MP. List of media companies falling under these criteria will determine the competent Executive authority, he added.

“Our country will always defend its national interests and rights of Russians, while we are strongly against illegal pressure and sanctions, whatever spheres of life they are touched. Therefore, all possible claims by foreign media that can get in the Russian list of registered as foreign agents, they should be addressed to Washington,” concluded Zheleznyak.

The chief editor of RT and Sputnik Margarita Simonyan earlier on Monday reported that RT America is registered as a foreign agent in the United States at the request of the justice of the country. RT America is registered under the Law on foreign agents from 1938, with many other foreign state-run media such as the BBC, Chinese CCTV, the French TV channel France 24, the German radio station Deutsche Welle, was not registered as a foreign agent.
