“Seven decades ago, the first festival. Then the same young boys and girls, like you, rallied the power of dreams, faith, youth, her sincerity, kindness can melt the ice of mistrust, will help to rid the world of injustice, wars and conflicts,” – said Putin, speaking on Sunday at the opening ceremony of the XIX world festival of youth and students.
He said that while young people have achieved many things. “They proved that barriers are powerless in the face of genuine friendship, and the warmth of human interaction does not depend on political, national, religious, cultural and all other differences”, – said the President of the Russian Federation.
According to him, Russia is proud to have twice hosted the world festival of youth in 1957 and in 1985.
According to Vladimir Putin, the forum of youth of the world in Sochi became the most representative in the history of the festival. “Here in Sochi, gathered almost 30 thousand participants, guests, volunteers from more than 180 countries, from all continents of the planet,” – said the head of state.
Sochi, he said, is a city of Olympic brotherhood and hope. “Five rings, like the five petals of the daisies festival became a symbol of solidarity all over the world. I am convinced that you, the youth of different countries, nationalities, religions, share a common sense of values and goals, desire for freedom, happiness”, – said Vladimir Putin.
XIX world festival of youth and students takes place from 14 to 22 October in Sochi and is expected to collect 20 thousand young professionals in various fields from 150 countries at the age from 18 to 35 years. In addition to Sochi, the festival events will take place in 16 Russian cities from Vladivostok to Kaliningrad.
Earlier Vladimir Putin urged not to politicize and not to ideologize the world festival, which was held under the sign of humanitarian values.
