Bashkir clergy supported the petition of the ex-Senator Izmestyev pardon

Ufa. September 21. INTERFAX – the clemency Petition of former Senator from Bashkiria Igor Izmestyev, who is serving a life sentence for organizing murders, supported more than a dozen lawmakers of the state Assembly-Kurultay RB, the MP informed Ramil Bignov “Interfax”.

According to him, the signatories pointed out the merits of I. izmestiev to the Republic in the years, Senator and business activities, including assistance in the construction of temples, mosques.

“And most importantly – he’s already spent ten years, and we are talking about mercy for this man, given his achievements. We’re talking about clemency, not a revision, as is already the decision of the court: fair, unfair – this is the second question,” he added.

He said that the clemency petition of former Senator also supported the religious leaders. They sent a separate appeal. Originally it was signed by mufti Talgat Tadzhuddin, the chief Rabbi of Bashkortostan Dan Krichevsky and Archbishop Nikon. Subsequently, according to R. Bignov, a representative of the Church withdrew its signature.

In December 2010 I. izmest’ev Moscow city court verdict was found guilty of creating and leading an armed gang, of murder of two and more persons, organizations a terrorist act, committing other crimes and sentenced to life imprisonment. At the same time, the court granted the victims ‘ claims for a total amount of 7.8 million.

In April 2015, the Prosecutor General of Russia Yuri Chaika said in his report that Switzerland returned assets I. izmestiev. “For these funds compensated the damages to the victims of his crimes in Russia,” – said in the report.
