Ekaterinburg. July 17. INTERFAX – the “Royal” procession held in Yekaterinburg in the night of Monday, the press service of the local diocese.
The procession started at the end of the Liturgy, headed by Metropolitan of Astana and Kazakhstan Alexander. At approximately 3:00 local time, the faithful began the procession route, which in 1918 was driven to the murdered members of the Imperial family.
“According to preliminary estimates, the March was attended by over 60 thousand people, which is the same level as last year”, – stated in the message.
The procession throughout was accompanied by 25 of the mobile groups of the Orthodox service “Mercy”. The volunteers were given a bottle of drinking water, and the sisters of mercy provided the marchers first aid.
About 7:00 in the column of the procession reached the monastery at Ganina Yama.
Festival of Orthodox culture “Royal days” – an annual event timed to coincide with the date of the execution of the Imperial family in July 1918 in Yekaterinburg.
The program begins in June, the Central event of the “Royal days” – the procession on the night of July 17 – from the place of the execution of Nicholas II (the Church on the Blood) to the place of her burial in the hole Ganina Yama, which gathers thousands of pilgrims from around the world.
Members of the Royal family, as well as Dr. Eugene Botkin, and three servants accepted a Martyr’s death on the night of 17 July 1918 in the house of engineer Ipatiev in Yekaterinburg.
In 2000 the Russian Orthodox Church canonized Nicholas II, his wife Alexandra Feodorovna and five children, and in February 2016 – E. Botkin.
