Moscow. July 14. INTERFAX – the head of the Kola science centre of RAS, head of the Department of crystallography, Institute of Earth Sciences SPbSU Professor Sergey Krivovichev, which ALSO serves as a deacon in the St. Petersburg Church of the great Martyr Panteleimon, said that a believer is not necessarily to oppose the Darwinian theory of evolution.
“Evolution is not in principle contrary to Scripture”, he said in an interview published in the newspaper “Moskovsky Komsomolets” on Friday.
The Bible says that God created Adam from the dust of the earth, “this can be interpreted in different ways,” says the Professor.
“Biologically man is part of nature, but he is not an animal, it is much higher, because he has an immortal spirit that we had in some time. There is even the theory of three Large explosions: the first explosion – the appearance of matter, time and space, second life, the third – consciousness”, – said the scientist.
According to S. Krivovichev, “science does not refute the fact that in some point in human history there was a jump when we started to get cave paintings and other manifestations of creative and conscious activities.”
The Professor recalled that scientists still do not understand the cause of the Big Bang: “the modern inflationary theories give different answers to the question “how”, but not answer the main question – “why does everything exist?” According to the interlocutor of the edition, it was “beyond science”.
“Suddenly, by itself, was beautiful and absolutely one of the molecules in the genomes of small flies and humans? It is impossible even from the point of view of the theory of probability”, – says Sergey Krivovichev.
In his opinion, the meaning of science is “the knowledge of nature and of man’s place in this world”, “the second aspect is service to the people and the relief of their lives.”
