The relics of Saint Nicholas in Moscow bowed to one and a quarter million people

Moscow. June 30. INTERFAX – More than 1 million 250 thousand of the faithful have venerated the relics of St. Nicholas in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, said on Friday joint press center of the Russian Church and the Moscow government.

The estimated time spent in the queue on Friday morning is about 4.5 hours. The entrance is located on the Frunzenskaya embankment.

While pilgrims are asked to choose the worship time for the Shrine, subject to weather conditions and warned that the second half of the day June 30 in the Moscow region is expected wind sometimes gusts up to 15-20 m/s, rain, storm, hail.

The relics will be in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior about two weeks: July 13 held their solemn farewell. On this day the ark with the relics will be transferred from Moscow to St. Petersburg, where he will stay until July 28.

The relics of St. Nicholas are stored in the Basilica of Bari, for the first time in history were brought to Russia on 21 may. For all 930 years of stay of the relics in Bari they have never left the city. The relic was made possible thanks to the agreement between Pope Francis and Patriarch Kirill at the end of their meeting in Havana in February of last year.
