Moscow. April 15. INTERFAX – the Russian Orthodox Church supported the idea to provide the believing students of Russian the opportunity to eat in accordance with the requirements of their religions.
“That now may be possible for those students who want to eat in accordance with the requirements of their religious tradition, I do not see anything wrong,” said the head of the Synodal Department for external Church relations Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk on Saturday in the program “Church and world” on TV channel “Russia-24”.
According to him, adult load is not less than the students, “we observe the posts and do not feel that this negatively affects our health, our mental abilities”.
He reminded the audience about his school days when he used to observe fasts, and the school was vnepechnoj food, “and had almost to starve, or find somewhere on the side of some food, or only eat side dishes”. “It’s all making life more difficult,” he says.
As noted by the representative of the Church, students from believing families in the imposition of a religious menu will be able to decide for themselves whether they fasting or not or the parents will tell them.
“Make no one will, but that was the opportunity for the child to choose foods in accordance with their religious tradition, it can only be welcomed”, – said the Metropolitan.
