Kiev. 7 APR. INTERFAX – the Prosecutor’s office of Kiev region detained the former high-priest, who was trying to sell for $ 0.5 million ancient Church relics that belonged to late Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Metropolitan Vladimir, said Prosecutor General Yury Lutsenko.
Relics were stolen from the home of a personal assistant to the head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Alexander, told Yu. Lutsenko on Friday on his page on “Facebook”.
In turn, the Prosecutor of the Kiev region reported in the same social network that the former Minister was detained on April 6 in the center of Kiev. According to prosecutors, he tried to sell 21 relic of the past, in particular, was personally worn by Metropolitan Volodymyr.
“It is established that in March 2016, unknown persons stole from the house of Alexander drabinko, which at one time was the personal Secretary of the Primate of the UOC Metropolitan Vladimir, two safes, which were kept religious relics. According to preliminary calculations, the value of stolen things exceeds 15 million hryvnia,” – said the Prosecutor.
Law enforcement officers detained the former priest during the distribution of the relics.
On the same day at the place of residence of the attacker had been searched, during which discovered and seized items, like knives, hunting weapons, religious icons and other things.
