Manchester United to face Real Madrid and Barcelona, in the pre-season tour

Manchester United will face Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester City this summer in the International Champions Cup in the United States.

United start their pre-season tour with two matches against Major League Soccer sides, la Galaxy, July 15, and the Real Salt Lake two days later, before a start of the ICC tournament against their rivals from Manchester, 20 July, at a venue yet to be decided.

José Mourinho will be against his former club when United face Real Madrid at the Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, on the 23rd of July. The clash came three years after the record of the US soccer presence of 109,318 spectators watched United record a 3-1 win over the Spanish club.

The tour will conclude in Washington, DC, with a game against Barcelona on 26 July at the FedEx Field, in what will be the first meeting between the two sides after United claimed a 3-1 win in and the sell-out clash in California, two summers ago.

Speaking to the club’s summer plans, Manchester United vice president Woodward, said: “the Tours are of vital importance for the team, the preparations for the season and we are facing top-class opposition, with world-class stadiums, providing the ideal environment for the manager and the team to prepare.

“They are all excited for the tour and gives us the opportunity to play in front of some of the millions of Manchester United supporters that we have throughout the UNITED states. I am pleased that fans will be able to see every kick of every game of the 2017 Tour, presented by Aon, on the new MUTV app.”

This will be the fifth year in a row that ICC returns to US. United have taken part in the last four ICC tournaments in North America and China. The team has played 10 games, winning seven times, with nearly 600,000 supporters attend matches.

Manchester City will also be the Tottenham as part of the American section of the 2017 ICC, playing at the Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee, on the 29th of July, three days after they face Real Madrid in Los Angeles, the Colosseum, the 26th of July.

Tottenham will also meet with Paris Saint-Germain in Orlando, July 22, with another game against as Roma, in New Jersey, ” after three days before the clash with the City. Spurs travelled to Australia last summer for ICC matches against Juventus and Atletico Madrid, in Melbourne.

City manager, Pep Guardiola, believes that the ICC will provide an ideal preparation for the 2017-18 campaign. “The International Champions Cup is a fantastic tournament and we are pleased to be invited to compete in it once again. We have some great games in a row in some beautiful stadiums,” Guardiola said in a statement on the club’s web site.

“The Real Madrid game will be an incredible occasion in Los Angeles and we know all about the strength of our English opponents Tottenham, for the game in Nashville, and that will be a good show for the fans to see the passion of the Manchester derby in america.”

The City-pair Ilkay Gündogan and Gabriel, Jesus, we were in New York for the launch event as both continue their rehabilitation from injury.

The germany midfielder Gündogan, said: “The Kingdom of the game will be much more great for both teams and are very excited. It is a good preparation for the next season.”

Spurs ambassador Ledley King has told the launch event, believes that the icc will provide the necessary high-level competition at a crucial stage of the pre-season.

The former england defender said: “We are a young team that wants to compete at the highest level and be in the Champions League year in year out, in such a way that these [opposition] teams are fantastic Champions League that you want to be in the competition. We are very pleased to accept the challenge.”

Apart from the first derby of Manchester will be held in the United States, Real Madrid will also play against Barcelona in the first El Clásico of outside of Spain from 1982.

The ICC returns to the United States for the fifth consecutive year, with similar tournaments to be held in China and Singapore.

The China event will involve Bayern Munich and Arsenal, which will take place in Shanghai on the 19th of July, as well as in Milan, the International and Borussia Dortmund.

Bayern will also play at the ICC in Singapore to 2017, in front of the Chelsea, which could become the new Premier League, the 25 July, and then the Inter, two days later.
