The Kia Stonic small SUV has been spotted testing in the Arctic Circle, in the six months before he performs a scheduled start in 2017 Frankfurt motor show.
Despite heavy lining, the model of compact dimensions and a slight increase in height can be clearly seen. It has a sloping rear hatch and the short-bonnet, like Rio hatchback, with which it shares its underpinnings.
The next Nissan Juke rival will also share 1.4-litre petrol and diesel engines in Rio. More powerful versions will use the engine for the first time seen in the low-end of Sportages, such as the 1.6 GDI.
Both front and four-wheel-drive variants of the Stonic will be produced. The same drive specifications should be available with Kia’s parent company Hyundai’s own Juke competitor, which will also share components with the Stonic.
Kia has so far only referred to its next model by its project name,. But the company has patented ‘Stonic”, the information in support of this name will be used with the final production model.
The Stonic fit in a category dominated by the Juke and also featuring the Renault Captur. He will be joined by Volkswagen’s upcoming Polo-based SUV and the Seat Arona. As such, the Stonic the estimated cost is approximately £ 15,000.
