Tbilisi. 13 Feb. INTERFAX – the Chief Prosecutor of Georgia Irakli Shotadze confirmed the detention last Friday in Tbilisi international airport head of service on management of property of the Patriarchate of Georgia, father George Mamaladze.
“Deacon George Mamaladze was arrested February 10 on charges of attempted murder. He was detained on the basis of submitted to the Prosecutor’s office to one of the citizens who reported that Giorgi Mamaladze asked him for a valuable consideration to purchase the toxic substance cyanide to eliminate a high-ranking priest,” said I. Shotadze.
According to him, on the basis of this information the Prosecutor’s office had initiated the investigation.
“As it turned out, Mamaladze had intended to go to Germany for treatment is the Patriarch Ilia II. During the arrest at the airport when a search of his Luggage in the hiding place was discovered a toxic substance cyanide. During the search of his apartment was discovered firearms and ammunition,” the Prosecutor said.
He said that at the present time, Mamaladze is in pre-trial detention.
