Trump intends to allow the support of political candidates by religious organizations

Washington. 3 Feb. INTERFAX – U.S. President Donald trump said Thursday that he is considering the repeal of the law prohibiting religious groups to support political candidates.

“I will impose a total ban on the “Johnson amendment” and allow members of our religious groups freely to Express their opinions without fear of retribution,” said the us leader, speaking at the National prayer Breakfast in Washington.

At the same time D. trump emphasized that human freedom, including the right to hold religious services, are “gift of God” and must be protected.

The amendment about restriction of participation of churches in public life was proposed by a Senator and later U.S. President Lyndon Johnson in 1954.
