Russia can guarantee Hungary a stable supply of gas. This was announced today, 2 February, in Budapest, Vladimir Putin at a meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
The politicians discussed issues connected with the construction of “the Turkish pipeline,” the second branch “Northern pipeline”.
Putin assured Orban that preserves stability of supply of natural gas: “One can say with certainty that Russian gas will be securely supplied to the Hungarian market. It is 100 percent,” – said Vladimir Putin.
The Russian President added that Russia does not exclude, for political reasons, the transit of blue fuel through the territory of Ukraine.
“If it is necessary and expedient from an economic point of view, we do not exclude such possibility”, – said the President of Russia.
Putin also said that Moscow and Budapest get along in the modernization of the Hungarian nuclear power plant. Under the first project, Russia needs to invest in this investment about 10 billion euros (80% of the funds). After a meeting with Viktor Orban, Vladimir Putin suggested that Russia has covered 100% of the funds of modernization, but as he said, “this decision requires a change to the Treaty.”
