This week, rumors from the auto industry, news of the future of the Mazda MX-5 and the Mitsubishi Shogun 4×4, Porsche-burner for Tesla and GKN-electric is the future.
The future of the Mazda MX-5
The Mazda MX-5 will continue to thrive, even if Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) commit to building a next-gen version of the Fiat 124 Spider. Mazda R&D chief, Kiyoshi Fujiwara, said: “the FCA helps, of course, but the car can do without them. It is not a word in the dictionary for “finish” – with the MX-5.”

A new direction for the Shogun?
Mitsubishi has yet to decide a direction for the replacement of its Shogun 4×4. The sixth Generation of the Shogun was for the first time at the Paris auto salon in 2006, but the company is now focusing on two new soft-roaders and upgrading the Outlander. Design Director Tsunehiro Kunimoto, said a new design direction for the Shogun “is unclear”. The global market for hard 4×4 shrinks, it makes the decision more difficult, he added.

GKN driveline wants to be a producer of complete electrical drive systems, which can be used on multiple platforms. “Our task will be the Integration of electric motors in a adaptable drive module,” said Theo Gassmann, GKN, director of advanced engineering and eDrive systems. “It will be up to the manufacturer to give the vehicle its own DNA, by the parts of the end touched by the user and looks.”

Porsche-burner for Tesla
Porsche chief Oliver Blume says, that the company, the proposed 800V EV charging system would Tesla’s superchargers, which is currently charged by its manufacturer as “the world’s fastest” EV-charger exceed.
