In the December letter to President-elect of the USA, the Russian leader expressed hope for improved relations between the two countries
According to the American media, Russian President Vladimir Putin in a letter to President-elect of Donald trump earlier this month expressed a desire to “restore the framework of bilateral cooperation” with the United States.
In the letter, released by the transitional authority on Friday, the leader of Russia congratulates trump merry Christmas and a happy New year and expressed the hope that joint efforts to develop Russian-American relations out of crisis.
According to the President of Russia, he is confident that after the inauguration of the new President of the United States, the countries – acting in a constructive and pragmatic – to take real steps to restore the bilateral cooperation in various fields and to translate the level of cooperation between them in the international arena to a new level.
Donald trump, in his statement, called the letter “very good” noting that the views expressed there “judgement absolutely correct.”
“I hope that both sides will be able to implement these ideas and we don’t have to go the other way,” he said.
Earlier, the leaders of the Democratic party and the Obama administration has accused Putin of meddling in elections in the United States, in order to achieve the defeat of the democratic candidate and former Secretary of state Hillary Clinton, who, according to analysts, argued for a stricter policy towards the Russian leadership.
