The head of the UOC promises to help in the release of all Ukrainian prisoners of war

Moscow. 20 Dec. INTERFAX – Metropolitan of Kiev and all Ukraine Onufry has promised to make further efforts to release the Ukrainian prisoners of war.

“We will do everything possible to ensure that all was released, so none of our Ukrainians, of our countrymen was not in captivity,” the Metropolitan said at a briefing in Kiev, which was held with the participation of freed prisoner of war Taras Kolodiy.

The Primate recalled that the direct involvement of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church has been released from captivity 15 Ukrainian soldiers, including T. Kolodiy.

According to him, the participation of the UOC in the release of prisoners it asked for the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.

“We had a conversation with him about what will all the tools and the opportunities that there are, as believers happy to help. In this issue we have a full understanding and experience of fruitful cooperation,” – said Metropolitan Onufry.

As reported, T. Kolodiy, who participated in the fighting in the Donetsk airport, was released after two years of captivity Sunday in Donetsk with the participation of Patriarch Kirill and without preconditions.
