Kia GT has hit 0-62mph in 5.1 seconds

The 2017 Kia GT, the Korean brand’s first sports sedan, will achieve 0-62mph in 5.1 seconds, which makes it faster than acceleration of Kia to date.

Should be unveiled at the Detroit auto show in the month of January, the time of acceleration, the latest information that Kia has revealed about the car. At the beginning of this month, has published a video that gives us a taste of the Kia GT confirmed top speeds in excess of 150 miles per hour.

Accompanying the announcement of the acceleration time, Kia said: “A point of reference for any type of auto, operating on a higher level of performance, and the number that enthusiasts look first. The faster acceleration Kia today represents a new paradigm of performance, his heart beating of power to encourage you to grab the wheel a little tighter. “

While the previous video show, the Kia GT testing at the Nürburgring, Kia has also released the pictures to confirm that it is in phase of tests on its high-speed, handling the track at the brand distribution / wholesale R&D center in South Korea.

Albert Biermann, Kia’s head of performance, previously we said that the car will be rear-wheel drive and is likely to use the 315bhp four-cylinder engine from the GT4 Stinger concept, which, according to Biermann comments, has been set aside. There will be a diesel version for Europe, too, probably with the 197bhp 2.2-litre diesel engine of Hyundai Santa Fe.

The video shows the GT reaching speeds of over 150 miles per hour, although this is on the track so that the maximum speed of the car can be even higher. In the shot, the car, the odometer reads 13,164 km (about 8180 km), which shows the length of the procedure verifies that the GT has already started.

A Kia news site recently published the first pictures of the car masked, which is believed to have been leaked by Kia. It shows the entire design of the car, one of the four or more prototypes, on the one hand, including sharp-looking headlights, a rakish roof line and large, elaborate rims.

The car takes its influence from the Kia GT concept of 2011 in its overall shape and what is visible of the front-end styling. The concept of rear-hinged rear doors and a dramatic ‘floating’ front intake, drive bays has not been run for the production version, though.

The GT has been spotted testing multiple times at the Nürburgring, where the Kia and sister company Hyundai have experienced a variety of new models, including the i30 N Volkswagen Golf GTI rival.

There is no official word on pricing, but the model will be positioned at the top of the Kia range above the Optima. This will put the GT up against a wide range of high-end rivals like the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class, with prices to match. So it is about £30,000 is expected. We do not expect to see in showrooms before the summer of 2017 if.
